The Girls’ Friendly Society (GFS) welcomes girls and women of all backgrounds. GFS is a faith-based, international nonprofit organization, affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Through programs focused on worship, service and fellowship, GFS nurtures the growth of the whole person. At its heart, GFS is a diverse, intergenerational community where lifelong friendships are formed, and young women are empowered to thrive in faith and life.

A lifelong GFS member, Lois brings years of dedication, passion, and love for the Girls’ Friendly Society to this important role. She is deeply committed to strengthening and expanding GFS around the world while supporting our shared mission to “bear one another’s burdens.”

Her commitment to GFS and belief in the power of friendship, service and faith have made a lasting impact on our organization. We look forward to the leadership and vision she will bring to GFS Worldwide in the coming years.

Adele Ray celebrates 100th Birthday!

On July 24, 2026, we had the joy of celebrating this remarkable milestone with Adele.

Adele has been part of the Girls’ Friendly Society since childhood, dedicating many years of her life to serving and strengthening GFS. Throughout her journey, she has served as an advocate, Branch Leader, Diocesan President, National Chairman, and World Chairman.

Through each of these roles, Adele has made a lasting impact on GFS through her leadership, dedication, and especially her caring nature. Her lifelong commitment to our organization is a beautiful example of what it means to Love, Grow, and Serve.

Please join us in wishing Adele a very happy 100th birthday and thanking her for the many years of love, friendship, service, and leadership she has shared with generations of GFS members.

#OrangeTheWorld

Orange the World is a global movement led by the UN to raise awareness and take action against gender-based violence. It runs annually from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day), symbolizing a 16-day campaign. The color orange represents a brighter, violence-free future for women and girls.

World Project

The World Project for 2023 to 2026 focuses on GFS in Cameroon and considers what it might be able to do for vulnerable people in their communities. The project’s goal is to world project, improve the living standards of destitute girls and young women.
